It works like this...

The doctor phones the bakery and tells them the gender. They bake a cake with a special filling/cream (blue or pink). During the Gender Reveal Party and after lots of betting, they finally find out by eating the cake.

Thank God you can blame the baker if by sudden you feel faint.
